I was concerned that these shoes might possibly be a little larger than true size -- and first time slipping them on they felt "roomy." But within a few hours the inner soles and Van last uppers seemed to mold to my feet and felt perfect. I wore them 12 hours the first day; no problem!
Shape of the toe area is accommodating, versus other last designs. The stacked heel provides solid lateral platform...good... as I am a big guy.
The shell cordovan and workmanship are marvelous -- I have had compliments already (not that I really care...but it is nice!) I owned a "similar" pair from Brooks Bros. (same basic design) but the Alden brand is FULLY lined, and is really in a class by itself; Alden is just more shoe!
Don't let the shoe shine guy at the airport slobber on the polish -- they require very little to look new.
I am trying to decide which color leather to acquire next.

This is the third pair of these Van last shoes I've owned. They are so well made. They are comfortable and fit my wider foot better than the Aberdeen last shoes which I have to buy in a wider shoe. The Ravello color is exceptional. Alden in peerless in my opinion. A shoe well worth the investment. With Alden's refurbishment service these last almost a lifetime.
