Using the centuries-old method of pure vegetable tannage and hand finishing, the single tannery still producing genuine shell cordovan today is indeed practicing a rare art. The tanning process takes a full six months to complete and produces leather that is soft and supple, yet very durable. Genuine Shell Cordovan. Double oak leather outsoles. Barrie Last.

This is my third pair of Alden cordovan shoes, and, as with my previous Alden purchases, they are perfect. They are comfortable and classy looking. Like all Aldens, they are very well made, and should last many years. The service by Shoemart (first time) was also outstanding, with the shoes delivered in 4 work days.

First off, let me say Alden makes the best shoes in the world. I've been wearing Aldens for over 20 years and I have never found another brand with higher quality products. I have pairs of Aldens that have lasted me over 10 years (I've gotten them re-soled of course). These shoes are no different than any other Alden product I've bought. I tried the special edition cigar material this time and it is absolutely beautiful. I love showing them off to my friends that also wear Alden because almost no one has the cigar color. I had to wait about 4 months to get them, but it was well worth it!
