This shoe is designed for casual wear and built accordingly with a substantial sole. Perfect for chinos, slacks and even jeans. Very stable Vibram walking surface with a steel shank arch support that allows for a long day's wear for walking, sightseeing and evenings out. Very little break-in required and good water resistance (Seattle tested recently). The toe box is adequate without being too big. I prefer a traditional style and these shoes fit the bill. They are easy to slip on and off without being too loose a fit. The color on this website is accurate for mahogany. I can't say enough good about these shoes and Alden particularly. Alden products are craftsman quality and worth the price.
