This unique combination of super soft calfskin suede uppers, with vegetable tanned insoles, flex construction leather outsoles provide a great looking classic casual boot, the natural sole edge further enhances this very appealing boot. Flex models are made with Goodyear welted construction; beneath the insole is a layer of cork, providing additional resilience and insulation. Every Alden New England shoe carries a tempered steel shank, precisely contoured and triple ribbed for extra strength. As promised the shoe is butter soft and attractive. I own many pair of Aldens. Knowing the lasts fairly well I was surprised that this Leydon last shoe felt so tight in the toe box. I can live with that. The unlined shoe should form to my foot over time. What disappointed me was that out of the box the stitching on one shoe was incomplete on the back portion. This was easily fixed by a local shoe repair shop for little money. The issue is we pay dearly for Alden quality and these should have never made it to the retailer.

It's like wearing sticks of pure butter on your feet. The suede is incredibly soft and supple.
