Sometimes ground-breaking inventions come in the most unexpected moments. Originating in Bozeman, Montana, H.S. Trask footwear is just such a story. A footwear executive for over 30 years, Mr. Trask was fly fishing near his home when a large herd of local bison sparked an idea: take a plentiful leather source and make a shoe from it that was buttery soft, yet ruggedly durable. Native Americans have been using bison hide for centuries, and for good reason. The fibers of these leathers are soft and mellow, but a special tanning process makes them wear like iron.
