As I was once informed many years ago, after receiving your boat shoes from Sperry, fill your bath tub to ankle deep warm water. Put your Sperry's on & tie the knot so tight you'll never have to re-tie them again( If leather laces are long, cut them shorter an inch at a time) Do NOT tie the shoes to tight, just the knot. Walk back and forth in the warm water for about 5-min. Now wear your Sperry's all day, once evening comes, slip off and let them continue drying over night. Next day and everyday after, you will have a new pair of Sperry's that are custom molded to your feet and you'll slip them on & off for the next 7-10 yrs until they become yard work Sperry's & you've ordered another pair. 7-10 yrs per $100-130
per pair. Seems like alot to start out with, but when others are searching for sales on boat shoes next season or in a couple yrs, you'll still be breaking your Sperry's in and won't be in the market for atleast 5-7 yrs if your real hard on your Sperry's, but I avg 7-yrs each pair. Always have 2 pair, one to wear w/o socks and a 2nd to wear with. You really can't go wrong with Sperry, I can't speak for their suede versions for I stick to the classics & the Gold Cup series.
Enjoy them, they'll be around for some time.
