Alden 403 Indy Boot Brown Chromexcel
I've been looking at these boots for a long time, never clicked submit because of the price. But after purchasing other brands and subsequently returning or reselling them I could have already bought my new Indy's in Chromexcel. The craftsmanship is what I expected, exceptional. The fit as recommended from other reviewers was spot on, as a point of reference I wear an Allen Edmonds Park Ave in 8.5 E, I ordered the Indy Boot in size 8 and it fits perfect. Needless to say money well spent, I would expect these boots to last quite a long time with proper care. Great customer service from The Shoe Mart, you have a new customer for life.
These are comfortable, beautiful, rugged and extremely well made. A phenomenal pair of boots that are worth the price. I would suggest sizing down a half size from what you would normally take in a dress shoe. For example, I wear a 7 1/2 in Allen Edmonds Park Avenues, but a 7 in the Indy Boot fits just right.

First of all I would like to say that "The Shoe Mart" is an exceptional company to buy shoes from. Much like Alden, the quality of service received from The Shoe Mart is second to none. Before I review the shoes, I would like to say that I called The Shoe Mart 3 minutes before closing to order some laces. They did not rush me, took their time, asked the right questions, and took my order. Now to the shoes...The Alden 403 Chromexcel Indy boot is by far my favorite shoe on the planet. It fits to my foot like a custom pair of shoes (like a glove). The shoes smell heavenly and the fit and finish of the shoes are second to none. I advise sizing down a WHOLE size to get the correct fit. I wear 11 or 11.5 in almost every other shoe, but I wear a 10 in the Alden 403 Indy Boot. The inside of the boot is also a smooth heavy (but supple) leather so you can expect these to last 5-10 years, depending on wear and care. I get compliments on these shoes EVERY TIME I wear them, no joke. They are heavy, robust, and have a classic American style. The only very minor detraction is that it seems the white stitching that goes across the top of the boot has been changed recently to a darker color thread. It is hardly noticeable, but worth mentioning. This is my 3rd pair of Indy Boots and my second pair of 403s. The first pair was the more "reddish" 405. They felt great, but I preferred the darker Chromexcel. The second pair of 403s was purchased "used" from ebay and they were near perfect, but already had some moderate wear and honestly I wish I had just purchased new considering what I paid for them. I would (and will) purchase these over and over again from The Shoe Mart. Oh, by the way...the dark brown chromexcel is an absolutely deep, beautiful color that goes with anything from jeans, to navy slacks, to chinos. They can be dressed up or dressed down, especially during the first year of ownership. After the first year of wear, they begin to look a little more like a work boot and a little less like a dress boot in my opinion---but they always look amazing!
I've only had them for 5 days and worn them out twice but they are by far the nicest boot I've ever owned. I had a pair of Red Wing Iron Rangers for the past 4 years which I loved, but the don't quite compare to these Indy boots. The leather looks great right out of the box and I can tell it's only going to improve with wear. Well worth every cent! Does run a half size larger than Red Wing and similar boot brands.
