Our New Alden Flex Welt Cap Toe Blucher
The D7518F is a Custom Bootmaker Edition cap toe blucher made specially for TheShoeMart. It's made on the Alden Barrie last (sizing advice below) with Alden Flex Welt construction. Horween Chromexcel leather is known for being both supple and durable. This "pull-up" leather will patina beautifully over time. This shade of brown is extremely versatile and pairs well with many items from both your dress and casual wardrobes.
So what's the deal with Alden Flex Welt shoes?
Alden's Flex Welt construction method produces shoes that are lighter weight and more flexible with a shorter break-in period. The unlined vamp of this blucher is incredibly comfortable, while the leather lined quarter helps provide a bit of structure. Shoes With Sole
Pardon the pun, but the sole is one of our favorite parts of this shoe. The single leather flex outsole is soaked in oil, which helps keep water from penetrating in rainy weather. This, along with the 360-degree storm welt, adds water resistance without sacrificing the dress shoe style you need in more formal settings. While we love the Alden All Weather Walker, the leather outsole of the D7518F is much more appropriate for formal functions.
Sizing the Alden Barrie Last
The Barrie Last runs about 1/2 size long. Most of our customers order 1/2 size down in length from their traditional dress shoe size. For example, if you usually order a 10 D, we recommend ordering a 9.5 D for shoes made on the Barrie Last. The Barrie Last is very accommodating with plenty of room in width at the heel and ball of the foot.
